I couldn't afford to travel to conferences, and felt that the money to join would be wasted.

I still have to watch finances, but have found many nanny chatlists and boards online that have supplemented my in-person connections to local nannies. And many of them talked of the professional organizations that enriched them so much. By the time I was ready to join something larger, NAN was dissolving and NANC was starting up and looking for help to gear up. So that became my focus, and has been very fulfilling. I do think that establishing an affordable, accessible nationwide optional nanny credentialling process will greatly improve the way the public sees nannies as professionals at the same time it raises the quality of care for children. And it will put free trainings in place for nannies nationwide, for improving skills and core knowledge.

I joined APN, Association of Professional Nannies, which has been quiet of late. But since I run a local group in my spare time, I understand how life's demands can put a beloved project on hold for awhile. I'm hanging in and waiting to see its resurgence.

INA has just been too expensive for me, but others have been enthusiastic about the conferences and other member benefits. I'd like to see all the professional organizations working together, and I'd like to belong to INA in order to get a better sense of the group than I have from the outside.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4367562005674205019.post-82941167498027536462009-05-30T19:51:31.609-04:002009-05-30T19:51:31.609-04:00so excited about it :) I have been hard at work p...so excited about it :) I have been hard at work posting ALL the time.
